Actress Mallika Sherawat, a Cannes Film Festival veteran, returned with a bang this year on the opening night, at the screening of French film Les Fantomes d’Ismae (English title, Ismael’s Ghosts). Mallika made many heads turn as she walked the red carpet dressed in a gorgeous dress by Georges Hobeika, her favourite designer from last year. Mallika accessorised her dress with a spectacular necklace by Messika Joaillerie. She also posted a video of her red carpet moments on Twitter and thanked the designer for the couture which made her “feel like a princess.” Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone debuted on Cannes red carpet as L’Oreal brand ambassador (but more about it later).

Mallika Sherawat, who is dating French businessman Cyrille Auxenfans, first appeared at Cannes Film Festival to promote her film The Myth (2005) in which she starred with Jackie Chan. Ever since, the actress has regularly attended the film festival to promote a film or just generally. Last year, Mallika represented her film Time Raiders.

Now, Deepika Padukone. The Cocktail actress looked fabulous on the first day of 70th Cannes film Festival. She wore a risque sheer-embellished gown by Marchesa and made quite an entry on the red carpet.
Deepika, 31, socialised with Susan Sarandon, Elle Fanning and Julianne Moore, who also attended the screening of Les Fantomes d’Ismae.
Deepika will walk the red carpet again on Thursday and her L’Oreal colleagues Sonam Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will join in soon. In fact, Aishwarya has already left for the French Riviera with her daughter, Aaradhya. Aishwarya’s husband, Abhishek was there to see them off.
