Prep for Lakmé Fashion Week winter/festive 2017 is in full swing and as the new season approaches, there are more positive updates from the front. After promising a modeling contract with IMG Models to the winner of the model audition which recently concluded, Lakmé Fashion Week and IMG Reliance are making one pivotal change in the system.

The fashion week is opening gates to plus sized models—both men and women—primarily for the show by aLL The Plus Size Store. Veteran designer Wendell Rodricks is creating a special collection for the label that will be showcased at the fashion week. The jury for the plus-sized model audition will include Rodricks, model Liza Golden Bhojwani who is an ambassador for body positivity, Neeraj Gaba, fashion and lifestyle consultant, Hetal Kotak, CEO, aLL The Plus Size Store, Purnima Lamba, head of innovations, Lakmé and Jaspreet Chandok, vice president and head of fashion, IMG Reliance.

At the audition, the jury will be on the lookout for models who can also make their way to the main model pools and walk for other designers as well. “Don’t let other people’s negative opinions affect your dreams and aspirations. Shine as bright as you possibly can because that’s what you deserve,” is Bhojwani’s message to aspiring participants.
