Brides

Weddings of Punjab are grand affairs. The ensembles and jewellery worn by the brides reflect this too! From the many pre-wedding festivities to the post-wedding celebrations, the occasions to wear jewellery are many. But it is the jewellery worn on D-Day that makes the bride look radiant. Here are the bridal jewellery essentials for a Punjabi bride.

Maang tika

The Punjabi bride wears a big pendant with a long chain as a maang tika at the centre of the forehead. It is generally made of Kundan. But if the dupatta worn over the head is heavily embellished, then the maang tika is simpler comparatively. Some brides wear maatha patti too, but the maang tika is more common.

Laung / Shikarpuri nath

The Shikarpuri nath is a huge nose ring with a small pendant attached to the chain of the Nath. The laung is a stud, or a nose pin. The Shikarpuri nath is more common for brides. The pendant can be just a stone, or an elaborate motif.

Baali

These are the earrings that are traditionally crescent-shaped or round hanging earrings. They can be in gold or silver and with different precious or semi-precious stones.

Choker

This is a neckpiece close to the neck. It can be a smaller piece or a grander piece that goes from the neck over the neckline. You can team it with a long neckpiece as per the intended end-look.
