Much like her personality, what makes Anushka Sharma’s style instantly likeable is how unpretentious it is. The actress makes no-fuss outfits look cool like few others can. Not quite avant-garde but not a wallflower either, she straddles that fine line between minimalism and maximalism with exceeding flair. The same can be said about her jewellery choices as well—while she may not subscribe to the ‘pile on the bling’ club, she doesn’t shy away from elevating her looks with statement pieces from time to time. We dig deep into her repertoire to bring you all the jewellery inspiration you need to build your own collection.
These are Anushka Sharma’s go-tos for her everyday jewellery
When it comes to her off-duty wardrobe, you’ll be hard-pressed to find too much jewellery on the actress, save for her wedding ring and watch. But every once in a while, she will throw in some stacked bracelets to the mix. While she may not be big on necklaces, earrings are a constant in her looks. Even when she’s wearing busy silhouettes, Sharma looks to them to gently uplift her ensembles. Cases in point: the princess-cut drop solitaire earrings she teamed with a feathered crop top, and the oversized pearl studs she styled with a one-shoulder dress. One of her most chart-topping (and bold) choices till date is that gold Gucci ear jacket, which she wore with a tailored plaid jumpsuit for Vogue Women Of The Year Awards 2019. Hoops in varying sizes remain an unwavering favourite with the actress. From swimsuits to shorts and T-shirt combinations and co-ord sets, she proves you can indeed wear these staples with just about everything.
Decoding Anushka Sharma’s traditional jewellery choices
Statement earrings remain as go-to accessories in her festive wardrobe as well. While she oscillates between uncut diamonds and silver accents, there is a common thread between all her picks—the bigger, the better. You’ll find a prime example in the silver Lara Morakhia tribal danglers she wore to match the vibe of her contemporary Anamika Khanna jacket set—they were accented with pearls and polki. Sabyasachi’s fine jewellery pieces win her favour more often than not too. She often teams her floral saris by the designer with look-at-me earrings that render a necklace unnecessary, such as pearl and gemstone chandeliers or oversized chaandbalis. For Diwali last year, Sharma decided to opt for a more-is-more aesthetic by styling a colour-blocked panel lehenga by Sabyasachi with a traffic-stopping multicoloured gemstone choker and earring set. An army of mismatched stacked bangles completed this look.
Inside Anushka Sharma’s bridal jewellery collection
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s Tuscan destination wedding in December 2017 broke the Internet for many reasons, one of them being Sharma’s all-Sabyasachi bridal wardrobe. As a millennial bride, the actress reset bridal norms with her trendsetting picks—for starters, her choice to forgo bridal red, and wear an English rose, dusty pink lehenga instead. She complemented this with traditional jewellery, comprising a matha patti, layered necklaces and jhumkas in jadau and pearls. However, it was the addition of pink spinels over conventional gemstones that gave her bridal jewellery a real twist. To complement her bohemian mehandi lehenga, Sharma wore gold jhumkas set with Iranian turquoise, tourmalines, uncut diamonds and Japanese cultured pearls, and for her post-wedding dinner, she elevated her maroon velvet sari with an uncut diamond and pearl choker and matching stud earrings.
For her Delhi reception, the actress went all out with her jewellery, wearing her sindoori red Benarasi sari with a regal polki rani haar and jhumkas. She switched up the aesthetic for the Mumbai reception by going Victorian with her choice of jewels, topping her champagne gold lehenga with a handcrafted suite encrusted with rose cut diamonds, solitaires and briolettes.
