Fine green gemstone jewellery adorned with diamonds were the stellar performers at Luxeford’s Fine Jewels & Watches Auction held in Hong Kong on May 19.

Headlining the sale was a pair of earrings with jadeite cabochons of bright emerald-green colour and high translucency, accentuated with brilliant-cut diamonds. The earrings fetched HK$1.44 million (US$185,378). Other star lots were a ring with a 5.11-carat Colombian emerald centre stone and diamond accents, which sold for HK$732,000 (US$93,973); and rare 1.80-carat cut-cornered square, brilliant-cut fancy light green diamond and white diamond ring.

Top-quality diamonds remained highly sought after at the auction, according to Luxeford. Other highlights of the sale were a Type IIA, D-colour pear-shaped brilliant-cut diamond of IF clarity grade, mounted on a ring; a 5.01-carat oval-cut diamond ring of F-colour and VVS1 clarity grade; and a 7.94-carat brilliant-cut diamond ring by Bulgari.

“Both the preview exhibition and the auction attracted connoisseurs, clients and industry buyers alike,” the auction house said.
