Palesa Sekhaolelo says she hopes to collect enough dresses to make several girls’ matric dances worthwhile.
POLOKWANE – Matric dances are a chance for most girls to feel like princesses.
However, not everyone gets a chance to feel like that due to circumstance and financial strains.
The ‘Glam a Girl’ charity event is therefore asking anyone in Polokwane who may have extra dresses lying around as well as accessories, to donate towards this worthy cause.
Charity co-ordinator Palesa Sekhaolelo says her motive and aim is to make sure that she keeps a smile on the recipients faces by making their dreams come true.
The charity drive is aimed at local public schools where families of the girls are unable to afford dresses, shoes and accessories for their matric dances.
“There are so many people who have dresses and shoes that they don’t wear anymore, so I’d like to encourage those women to donate them and make a young girl’s dream come true,” she said.
From 18 May to 23 June, you can donate your glam items at the Therapy Boutique (87a Gen Maritz Street, Bendor) between 09:00-16:00.
On 30 June, the organisation will be doing a ‘Glam a Girl charity drive’ where the donated items will be taken to different schools and given to worthy girls.
