Ambre Victoria pave cuff

When it came to designing her namesake jewelry collection, Ambre Victoria Dahan of Ambre Victoria, went for the friendly and the familiar — those charming woven friendship bracelets prevalent at summer camps here and in her homeland, France, where they’re known as “Brazilian” bracelets.

She has fashioned a luxe version of the style, in delicate cuffs in 18-karat rose, white, yellow and black gold with pavé diamonds, emeralds, rubies and sapphires which along with precision engraving all create the classic chevron motif her bracelets are known for. “I like the graphic nature. I won’t be designing flowers anytime soon,” she said in a preview for WWD just prior to a trunk show at Barneys.

Dahan came to the world of design via the corporate world. After receiving her degree in France in business and law, Ambre moved to the U.S. to work for Cartier’s marketing department. Upon moving to Los Angeles, she met and married Joe Dahan of Joe’s Jeans, eventually becoming its design director. After departing Joe’s Jeans — and Dahan as well — she briefly helmed a tech start-up called “Walk In My Closet,” an online personal consignment venture. But she knew she wanted to get back to creating product.

Inspired by her love of designs  both vintage and modern, she set out to create a luxury version of those friendship bracelets that paired well with her personal jeans-and-T-shirt aesthetic. She saves the big bucks for the baubles: “I’ve always invested in jewelry, so I can pass it on to my daughters,” she said. She has since expanded her line, including the chevron motif on earrings, rings and a necklace. Her first account was at Colette in Paris, then Montaigne Market (which also carries a more approachable silver collection) in 2015. Here in the U.S., she is carried by a few boutiques, as well as the Barneys stores in New York, Beverly Hills and soon, San Francisco — as well as barneys.com.

Prices range from $780 for a pair of chevron cross earrings to $9,000 for a full pavé gray and black diamond cuff.
