For those who are really not that high on makeup and prefer to go without it, choosing the right colour shades for yourself can be tricky. Subtle makeupwhen done perfectly can highlight your features naturally, making it look as if you aren’t wearing make-up at all.

What are the shades that you can choose?
From baby pinks and purples to lighter shades of maroons and reds – the list just goes on. Beauty professional Anisha Sharma says, “The best way to select a subtle shade for your skin is by testing which ones of those suits you better. Sometimes, women who are very fair or the ones who are slightly darker, tend to select a lip shade like nude which then makes your complexion dull. Like a baby pink will suit a person who has a fair complexion and a light purple will suit someone with a wheatish or a darker skin shade.”

Ways of selecting the right colour
Make-up professional Meghna Butani says, “The right way to select a particular hue for yourself, especially a lip colour, is by testing the shade on the back of your hand. However, if you are planning to choose an eye shadow or a blush, it is always advisable to ask the lady at the sales counter to show you a tester which you can then put on and try out.”
