CHENNAI: With the fire in Chennai Silks textile showroom in T Nagar on May 31 still fresh in people’s minds and the fire-ravaged eight storey building is under demolition now, another fire accident at a commercial complex in a different locality in the city shook Chennaiites on Saturday.
The fire at multistorey Suntec City Shopping Mall at Purasawalkam was reported around 4.30pm, and at least 20 fire tenders rushed to the spot, spreading a scare across the city.

Though it was detected at quite an early stage, the fact that the complex had residential units created anxiety among people and onlookers
When contacted, fire and rescue service personnel told TOI that it was not a major fire, but still a large number of fire tenders and personnel were sent to the spot as a precautionary measure in view of the Chennai Silks experience.
