After another cold day, especially in the chilly wind in the south and east, it will turn milder later this week.
Monday night will start frosty and dry for most, with showers clearing Britain’s south-west and North Sea coasts.
Later, patchy rain will move across Northern Ireland and the Republic, reaching Scotland, west Wales and south-west England by dawn.
Ice and hill snow will be a concern in the north.
Tuesday morning will be rather cloudy, with outbreaks of light rain, but south-east England will stay largely dry.
Further snow is likely on northern hills.
It will feel cold again, despite temperatures being up a little on Monday.
Tuesday afternoon will see heavier and more prolonged rain moving into western Ireland, while south-east England will turn damp.
Elsewhere, there will be little change, but north-east Scotland will be mainly dry with some sunshine.
Wednesday looks cold, wet and windy for many, especially England and Wales.
Severe gales are possible across south-west Britain.
By Thursday, it will be drier, brighter and milder, with temperatures widely reaching 8 to 11 Celsius (46 to 52F).
The weekend will be milder still, with 15 Celsius (59F) possible across Ireland, the Midlands and south-east England.
