Directors of some of the Britain’s biggest companies were busy buying shares yesterday, even as the market was climbing towards a fresh record high.
Two independent directors at Burberry, for example, were either taking an opening position in the luxury brands retailer or adding to their holding. Jeremy Darroch, chief executive of Sky and Burberry’s senior independent director, bought 2,000 shares for £20.01 each, while Ron Frasch, former chief merchandising officer at Saks Fifth Avenue who joined the retailer in September, acquired an initial 380 shares at £19.82½ a pop.
At the same time, Mike Inglis, a board member at BT, bought 24,492 of the phones group’s shares for £2.03 each. And Fevertree, the upmarket mixers supplier, told the market that Jeff Popkin, a non-executive.
