COCKBURN resident Taylah Schiavone hopes to encourage body positivity and female empowerment through her racy fashion designs.
The South Metropolitan Tafe student will present an eight piece lingerie and outerwear collection as part of the Tafe’s annual graduate fashion show Proto 2017.
Ms Schiavone said she chose to create the collection to embrace and celebrate femininity.
She has worked for Bras N Things for four years and has seen a lot of women struggle throughout that time.“I believe there are many misconceptions when it comes to the idea of lingerie,” she said.
“Women are a constant source of inspiration for me, not only powerful women of the world, but the women in my life including family and friends.
“Dealing with fittings and the retail industry, I have seen ladies bawling their eyes out because they are not happy with their body type, and finding or creating something that makes them look at themselves totally different is very rewarding.”
Ms Schiavone said her favourite collection piece is a bodysuit created to be worn as lingerie or as an outerwear piece paired with pants or a skirt.
Proto explores the contrast and fusion of traditional artistry and contemporary innovation by Advanced Diploma Fashion Design and Merchandising graduates.
It will be held on November 16, from 6.30pm, at Beaumonde On The Point.
