BOLLYWOOD STAR ARBAAZ Khan was in Dubai recently as he walked the ramp for Fashion League Series 2018 Season 2 at Marriot, Al Jaddaf. It seems that Arbaaz has recently become the go-to-guy for event organisers in the UAE. But who’s complaining? We love seeing him in the city. Arbaaz will soon begin filming Dabangg 3 with his brother Salman Khan. When we caught up with him, he was very excited about doing this show, “Dubai is the fashion capital of UAE in many ways and we’ve got some amazing designers showcasing their talent there along with a host of celebrities from Bollywood walking on the ramp.” He told us that he was wearing an outfit by Pakistani designer Javeria Saud and was really looking forward to seeing her creation. We spoke to Arbaaz about everything fashion and style before the show.
How fashion conscious are you?
Honestly, I’m not very fashion conscious. I don’t always follow the current fashion trends and am pretty conventional in my dressing. I like casual dressing – I’m the jeans, shirt, t-shirt kind of a guy and maybe on a formal occasion I will wear a suit, a Sherwani, a Johdpuri or something which is formal but very classic and typical nothing exceptionally different.
What does style mean to you?
Style to me means carrying whatever you’re wearing with your own identity with your own personality. Carrying it with a certain amount of elan is very important. The style isn’t necessarily about wearing something completely special or different. It is about creating your own individual style and personality even if you’re wearing conventional and regular stuff – something that you really are comfortable in and still making it unique and making it your own.
What’s your favourite indulgence in fashion?
I like watches a lot, so for me, that’s my greatest accessory, and shoes to some extent. I also look for stuff that really looks interesting and would suit me.
What’s the most expensive piece of clothing that you have bought?
I’m not sure what would be the most expensive outfit or piece of clothing that I bought. But I do have some branded suits and couple of other items, for example, Armani or Hugo Boss, and couple outfits from designers as well.
How much is comfort important when it comes to wearing designer dresses?
Comfort comes first for me. It’s important that I feel comfortable in whatever I wear and more often than not what you feel comfortable in ends up looking really good on you. I strongly believe to carry off something well you need to be really comfortable in what you wear as it also makes you feel good.
Do you plan your airport look?
I do actually – considering that the airport looks are quite a fashion trend and everybody wants to know how their favourite celebrity travel and plan their looks. I’m not so conscious of it though but I do like carrying my sling bag and often tend to wear jackets on the flight. I like to be comfortable and usually opt for a jeans t-shirt and a jacket and pair them with trendy shoes. If it’s a long flight then I like to change into comfortable pajamas. I’m more of a casual traveler in the sense that I prefer wearing tracks and t-shirts or a hoodie while traveling.
