An expansive range of diamonds and coloured gemstones, and fine jewellery is set to captivate buyers at the 30th June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair scheduled for June 22 to 25 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The show is renowned as one of Asia’s top three fine jewellery events, according to trade show organiser UBM Asia Ltd.

This year’s edition, which is expected to draw more than 25,000 local and overseas buyers, features an exciting list of special events and seminars.

JNA Awards, one of the most prestigious and coveted awards in the international jewellery and gemstone industry, is holding a press conference on June 22 at 11am. Organised by JNA, the annual JNA Awards aims to recognise and honour companies and individuals that have exhibited innovation, excellence, best business practices and outstanding business performance.

Various seminars on diamonds, coloured gemstones and pearls are likewise scheduled for June 23 and 24.

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is holding a seminar, GIA M2M: A Digital Storytelling platform, on June 23. GIA will also talk about its latest device for testing mounted diamonds.

Speakers on June 24 include GRS Laboratories CEO Dr. Adolf Peretti (New “Kashmir-type” sapphires from Madagascar and how to distinguish them from their Indian counterparts); Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand Advisor Dr. Pornsawat Wathanakul (The importance of Master Colour Standard: Pigeon’s Blood Ruby, Royal Blue and Cornflower Blue Sapphires); Gemmological Association of Hong Kong Secretary Dr. Edward Liu (Burmese Amber – A Rare Antique Gem from Cretaceous); and senior gemmologist Zhu Yiwei (An opportunity to learn about Japan’s quality standards for grading the value and beauty of pearls).

Another highlight of the June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair is the launch of the CORE Pavilion – a dedicated area for jewellery companies that have supported jewellery and gem fairs in Hong Kong over the years and consider Hong Kong as the platform from which they grow their businesses.

“On this landmark occasion, the CORE Pavilion will debut, adding to the exciting line-up of attractions and business opportunities,” said Wolfram Diener, senior vice president at UBM Asia Ltd. “Some of Hong Kong’s finest jewellery will be showcased at the pavilion.”

The CORE Pavilion will feature 61 exhibitors.

Key themes such as the Fine Design and Fine Gem Pavilions (FDP/FGP) have likewise proven to be crowd-pleasers at the June Hong Kong Fair for many years since their launch, Diener continued.

“This year, the FDP/FGP will gather over 70 renowned exhibitors from around the world. These esteemed companies bring you the opportunity to see up close some of the world’s finest jewellery, top-quality loose diamonds, coloured gemstones, pearls, invaluable antique and estate jewellery, and other exclusive one-offs.”

One of the fair’s standout sections is the Diamond Pavilion, which features 420 exhibitors.
