Tell us about the collection being showcased at Vogue Wedding Show 2018.
This season, we have drawn inspiration from various elements of nature as well as royal Mughal motifs to create our ‘Noor’ collection that features an mélange of polkis and emeralds. Tailor-made for the modern bride who approaches life with grace and confidence, it features classic jewellery with a bold, contemporary outlook. Each piece aims at transforming the bride as she crosses the threshold and enters a new life.
What are the biggest bridal trends this season?
Multi-strand necklaces like five-layered pearl strings teamed with a classic choker are trending this season. Polki matha pattis are being chosen over maang tikkas for an elaborate look while floral motif hath phools are must-haves too. With brides mixing modern and traditional elements with flair, pairing shoulder-length jhumkas with cocktail gowns is popular for the cocktail party.
How can a bride balance modernity and trends with tradition?
The bride can opt for jewellery that fuses polkis and diamonds, complemented with gemstones like emeralds and rubies for a touch of colour. Traditional jewellery can be worn with pieces like hath phools or mismatched stacked polki bangles for an interesting, modern update.
How would you describe the mindset of the 2018 bride and groom?
A wedding is more than just a ceremony for the bride and groom; they want the celebrations to mirror their individuality and lifestyle while also factoring the wishes of their families. As far as jewellery is concerned, brides are keen to mix the old with the new. So they often update heirloom pieces with the addition of unconventional elements to give them a new lease of life.
What are your top trousseau-shopping tips for the bride-to-be?
Jewellery is a long-term investment. So buy detachable multi-layered pieces that can be worn on multiple occasions after the wedding as well. Brides should add pieces like polki chand balis, jhumkas, cocktail earrings, kadas and bracelets to their trousseau, as they can be worn individually to make a statement or with a matching necklace for a heavier look.
