Target is teaming with a new lineup of Hollywood-loved names for its Fall Designer Collection. The Minneapolis-based mass retailer has tapped Rachel Comey, Victor Glemaud, Sandy Liang and Nili Lotan to dream up its latest limited-edition collections, set to arrive Saturday, Sept. 25 in select stores and online at Target.com.
The collection is available to shop via the retailer’s same-day pickup options, including contact-free Drive Up and in-store Order Pickup. Online orders are also available for shipping. To simplify the shopping process, Target is allowing customers to save their favorite styles in order to easily add them to their carts when the collections arrive.
The retailer debuted the lookbook for the highly-anticipated collabs on Sept. 8. The autumn lines mark the first Target collaborations for CFDA designers Comey, Glemaud and Lotan and CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist Liang. The collection will feature over 180 pieces of apparel and accessories priced from $15 to $80 (with most falling under $50) and in sizes XXS to 4X.
Haitian-born, New York-based Glemaud is known for his statement knit pieces, which have been worn by stars such as Iman, Margot Robbie, Issa Rae, Michelle Williams and others. He launched his namesake brand in 2006, and was the studio director at Paco Rabanne and style director at Tommy Hilfiger.
The Victor Glemaud for Target collection will include his signature multi-colored striped and color-blocked womenswear, all designed to be “celebratory, fun and encourage all people, no matter their race, size or gender, to embrace who they are,” the designer says in a statement.
NYC-based Lotan was a senior design director at Nautica and Ralph Lauren (among other heritage fashion brands) before debuting her label in 2003 and opening a boutique three years later in Tribeca. Defined by her minimalist-chic sensibilities, Lotan recently teamed with Champion on an activewear collection and her luxe womenswear has been worn by Olivia Wilde, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Garner, Hilary Duff and others.
Nili Lotan for Target will feature jumpsuits, slip dresses, outerwear and more womenswear inspired by ’70s Americana and European simplicity, per the retailer. Lotan adds: “I’ve always believed that the clothes you wear tell a complex story of who you are as an individual. Your clothes should give you the strength and confidence to run your life.”
Also based in the Big Apple is Comey, who recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of her eponymous brand, which is known for its playful prints and artful silhouettes. The designer started out in 2001 with menswear and launched her womenswear line three years later, earning a spot in the wardrobes of stylish stars like Miranda July, Rashida Jones, Tracee Ellis Ross and Busy Philipps. Comey has stores in Los Angeles and New York, and once staged fashion shows in L.A.’s Hauser & Wirth art gallery and the iconic Art Deco Bullocks Wilshire building.
In a statement, Comey explains that her collection “is filled with easy, wearable styles that work for all lifestyles, which aligns perfectly with our mission and this celebratory milestone.” Per Target, that translates to sweater pants, leather blouses, sweater pants and other pieces with “unexpected fabric and silhouette pairings.”
Last but not least is Liang, the newest designer on the block who launched her brand in 2014, and since then has been worn by the likes of Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Ilana Glazer. Her statement-making ready-to-wear “is inspired by nostalgic moments from my childhood,” she notes in a release. “I’m thrilled to be able to bring my designs to such a broad audience and hope that they encourage Target’s guests to have fun with their fashion and not take themselves too seriously.”
Liang’s Target collection will boast a sportswear-meets-cottagecore aesthetic — think patchwork fleece pieces and smocked dresses.
