Swarovski is giving a fresh twist to the well-loved theme of space and galaxy in its latest Fall/Winter 2016 to 2017 jewellery collection, which was launched in Hong Kong recently.
Inspired by the mystifying beauty of constellations and planets, the Crystal Galaxy Collection, conceptualised by Nathalie Colin, creative director of Swarovski, captures a kaleidoscope of elements that are translated into modern and fashionable jewellery pieces.
“Crystal Galaxy is the perfect theme to play with light and shadow and to create pieces exuding the mysterious appeal of the galaxy, either in a figurative or in a more abstract way. We worked on round and 3D volumes, new shapes like double-open rings and versatile silhouettes in a gradation of shades evoking eclipses, stars and constellations,” explained Colin.
Shooting stars and comets figure in delicate designs featuring a rock chic edge enhanced by a chiaroscuro colour palette, according to Swarovski. Large cabochon crystals and crystal pearls pay homage to the moon while the spikes of stars dazzle with a refined crystal pave work to mimic the moon’s rays.
Planets in orbit are likewise depicted through spherical silhouettes that seem to float and appear weightless against sleek metal settings.
The collection also features icicles turning into spiked necklaces and frosted materials into fluid chandelier earrings. Clear crystals also take centre stage in the collection, the company added.
