Global members’ club for entrepreneurs Mettā has announced it will run a second cycle of its Fashion Product Lab, aimed at connecting designers with fashion-focused technology companies to launch and and scale their brands.
The inaugural Fashion Product Lab was hosted by Mettā in Nairobi, Kenya, last year, with 10 designers – eight Kenyan and two Nigerian – selected to join the first cohort.
Applications are now open to the second cycle of the 10-week programme, which is designed to support designers by giving them access to work with early stage fashion-focused technology companies to launch their brands, showcase collections and scale their businesses.
Throughout the programme, the participants will receive mentoring and collaboration from partners including the Association of Fashion Designers in Kenya, Moringa School, Zumi, Umati Capital, Uwakili, Artcaffe, Metta and Nest.VC, among others.
The designers will participate in an intensive curriculum tailored to the needs of early stage fashion businesses, featuring workshops with experts and industry leaders, and meetings with senior business executives, investors, and experienced entrepreneurs.
The programme will culminate in a runway show and Demo Day to be held in Nairobi in December, where participants will showcase and pitch to fashion retail executives, investors, and the press.
