Trust Priyanka Chopra to be the centre of attention wherever she goes, even when it’s one of the biggest red carpet events in the fashion calendar. Her sense of style is impeccable and she has been wearing some cutting edge designs in the recent months, turning New York’s streets into a fashion runway. So, of course, expectations were high for her Met Gala appearance this year, and she didn’t disappoint at all. In fact she slayed her red carpet look like a queen dressed in a custom-made wine red dress by Ralph Lauren.
Keeping with the theme of the event, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, Priyanka came dressed looking like Mother Mary. Her velvet dress was teamed with a heavily embellished hood, which had red Swarovski crystals, meticulous gold beadwork, and over 250 hours of embroidery, as revealed by the designer. Sure, we have seen plenty of crowns and crosses, but not a jewelled hood like this. Priyanka’s stylish reinterpretation of the Holy Mother was no doubt well received by all.

While she nailed her ‘holy’ look at the gala, she showed us a completely contrasting style at the after party. We guess, with Priyanka, it’s never a dull day. The Quantico star brought out her bad girl vibe by dressing in an all black and leather, both commonly associated with rule breakers. She let her hair down and wore an Alberta Ferretti luxe leather crop top with a pair of trousers that had gold splatter print. She accessorised it with gold neckpieces with cross pendants, gold loop earrings, and a box clutch in black and gold. And yes, she wore bright red lips to complete her look.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that both the looks were very much Priyanka in real life – the queen and the risk taker. But be it whatever roles, she is a power woman. Period.
