Miss World 2013 Megan Young is helping design the new Miss World-Philippines crown.
The beauty queen and Kapuso actress clarified that she will not be crafting the crown by herself, but she does get the final say on the design.
“Boss lang!” she joked at the Miss World Philippines 2017 press conference on Friday.
Young will be meeting with a yet-to-be-named jeweler this week to start work on the new crown, which will be unveiled on coronation night.
Three other crowns will be unveiled on the auspicious event: those for Miss ECO Philippines, Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas, and Miss Multinational.
But Young was quick to clarify that she will only be working on the one for the new Miss World-Philippines title-holder.
New crown, new format
The “bigger and better” pageant, as promised by MWP National Director Arnold Vegafria, also boasts of a new theme song and “refurbished” social media accounts. Vega additionally revealed a new beneficiary for the pageant: the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center.
A new format will be launched as well. MWP General Manager Bessie Besana shared there will be new pre-pageant activities for candidates: Brand Fashion Show; Charity Gala Night; Sports Challenge; Beach Beauty; and Charity Day.
The winner or winners of the challenges will automatically advance to the semi-finals. The results will be announced on coronation night on September 3 at the Mall of Asia Arena and will be telecast on GMA Network on the same night.
