While many jewellers have become more wary of expanding their networks due to global economic conditions, Shanghai Lao Feng Xiang Co Ltd, one of the oldest jewellery houses in mainland China, continues to widen its presence in the Greater China region, paying special attention to prime locations and product diversification. Founded in 1848 in Shanghai, Lao Feng Xiang has trained its sights on the global market in recent years. “We have opened shops in Sydney, Vancouver, New York’s Fifth Avenue as well as Hong Kong in the last few years,” Feng Shuo, assistant marketing manager of the company, said in an interview with JNA during the March Hong Kong Fair. “We’ve already opened four boutiques in Hong Kong since May 2015. In the next few years, we will focus our efforts on our Hong Kong branches,” he added. According to Feng, Hong Kong is the ideal springboard for the company’s international ambitions. “Despite macroeconomic challenges, we believe Hong Kong will continue to thrive. It is an international platform on which Lao Feng Xiang hopes to gain global recognition through careful planning and dedicated efforts. We aim to have 20 stores in Hong Kong within the next few years,” he revealed.
