The 34th annual India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) is on from July 27 till July 31 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai showcasing gold, diamond, silver and coloured stones from India and abroad. The machinery section is put up at ‘The Lalit Mumbai’.
Organised by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), more than 1,200 exhibitors are taking part in the Jewellery, Stones & Allied section, while several leading companies are taking part in the Machinery section. Helmed as one of the largest gem and jewellery trade shows in Asia, the B2B event provides an excellent platform to the leading experts and craftsmen in gold, diamond, silver and coloured stones.
The show is aimed at jewellery manufacturers, importers, traders, retailers and students from Gem & Jewellery Institutes of India and overseas.
Ashok Chaubey, who is a regular at the jewellery trade fair, stated, “The fair provides an excellent opportunity for jewellers to showcase their creative skills and innovative machinery alongside creating an excellent platform for exchange of ideas and flow of domestic and international tourists.”
The concept of tourism has transcended beyond the conventional definition and trade fairs have proven themselves to attract tourists in large numbers. The GJEPC Council had previously tied up with the Ministry of Tourism to promote Indian jewellery and tourism across international platforms.
An official from GJEPC commented, “The aim of the event is not only to promote fine specimens of jewellery but to promote them amongst the tourists, both inbound and outbound. Every year we witness a large number of domestic and international visitors and we have also introduced a Mumbai guide and have listed hotels and restaurants to support them. We also provide a list of tourist spots to guide our visitors.”
Trade fairs like IIJC opens up tourism avenues to international visitors and provides exposure that India requires to sustain its tourism market on a global scale.
