The Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) recently expressed its sincere gratitude for the many messages of support and solidarity from diamond organisations around the world after the tragic attacks in Brussels on March 22.
Among the many organisations that sent their condolences to AWDC and Belgium were the World Diamond Council, World Federation of Diamond Bourses, International Diamond Manufacturers Organization, India’s Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and Alrosa.
AWDC CEO Ari Epstein said, “The outpouring of sympathy, support and solidarity for the people of Belgium has been overwhelming. At times like these, one realises that despite our particular interests, deep down we are part of a global community, and the diamond industry is a microcosm of that community. On behalf of AWDC and all the members of the Belgian diamond community we represent, I would personally like to thank all those who have reached out to express their concern and support.”
In a statement expressing GJEPC’s solidarity with the people of Belgium, GJEPC Chairman Praveenshankar Pandya said, “We are extremely shocked by the dastardly terrorist attacks in Brussels. We express our condolences to the people of Belgium who are not only compassionate but also extremely welcoming, which has been felt by us, the Indian diamond community, for several decades. In this time of anguish, we stand with the citizens and diamond community of Belgium.”
