Customs officers have uncovered fake clothes and accessories in a shop in the Old Town of Bratislava. Bags, wallets, belts and shoes were found to be imitations of world fashion brands.

“The goods were well-done imitations. If they were sold as originals they would cause a loss of €68,252 according to experts,” said Drahomíra Adamčíková from the Financial Administration as quoted by the TASR newswire.

The goods will probably end up in an incinerator, according to customs officers.

“It may also be possible to provide some goods for humanitarian purposes,” said Adamčíková. “But firstly, we have to find out whether the clothes cause any health complications and remove the brand labels.”

Apart from the forfeiture of seized merchandise, the owner of the shop that sold the fakes faces a fine of €67,000 or prosecution.
