Jewellery retailers at major department stores in Ningbo, China, are offering discounts today, also known as the ‘love confession day.’ The numbers ‘520’ are pronounced similarly as ‘I love you’ in Chinese.
In Ningbo No. 2 Department Store, customers can enjoy a RMB$20 (around US$3) discount for any purchase of gem-set jewellery pieces of RMB$520 (around US$79.5) or above, zjol.com.cn reported.
According to sales reports by Intime Department Store and Ningbo No. 2 Department Store, gold jewellery and gem-set jewellery accounted for the main proportion of sales over the past week.
The report added that renowned brands such as Chow Tai Fook and TSL recently offered couple rings for lovers and heart-shaped pendants to meet a growing demand during the ‘520 love confession day,’ the report said.
