From Alice bands or wraps to bejewelled clips, there are a host of new hair accessory trends favoured by celebrities such as Cara Delevingne. We spoke to some of the U.K.’s top hair experts to give us a run down on hair accessories to try out this season.

“The season is all about hair accessories. From large statement pieces to delicate clips and ribbons,” Suzie McGill, International Artistic Director, Owner of Rainbow Room International’s Uddingston Salon, told Cover Media. “These pieces are ideal to give extra charisma to your locks no matter what the occasion or hairstyle. Ribbons have been spotted on many of the runways – think soft, chunky fabric bows and loose ribbons to make your look ultra-flirty. Headbands and wraps are also going to be super on trend. These accessories add some urban cool to any look. Anything goes from monochromatic and gypsy prints to printed turbans and is prefect for wash and go hair, curls or super straight hair styles.”

If you were inspired by Cara’s black Alice band at the recent premiere of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, then you’re on the right trend tracks.

“Headbands are a great way to infuse a bit of fun into an updo and opting for a headband with some diamantes or embellishments can easily take any look from day to night,” Karen Thomson, Owner of KAM Hair and Body Spa, told Cover Media. “A statement headband acts like statement jewellery and can make a simple look really stand out. For a more low key look, jersey headbands that match your hair colour look great paired with relaxed waves or with an effortless updo to take hair off the face.”

If you want to add some bling to your ‘do, Neil Barton, Goldwell Ambassador and Owner of Neil Barton Hairdressing, has some tips on how to do just that.

“Bejewelled brooches, pins and clips are set to be one of the biggest hair accessory trends,” he told Cover Media. “These accessories can be incorporated into any style, whether you wear your hair in a ponytail, low loose bun or super straight and sleek and are a great way to add instant style and sparkle and pins are great for keeping stray hairs in place. Jewelled or shiny hair grips can be used individually or placed together to create a stunning effect and instant glamour.”
