The Gem & Jewellery India International Exhibition (GJIIE) has been rescheduled for October 7 to 9 at the Chennai Trade Centre in view of the Legislative Assembly Elections in Tamil Nadu.

“As a valued stakeholder in the show, it is our duty to update you that the upcoming Legislative Assembly Elections in Tamil Nadu necessitates a change in dates for the 12th edition of GJIIE. Keeping in mind the requests and security concerns of our exhibitors and visitors, Madras Jewellers & Diamond Merchants Association (MJDMA) and UBM India have jointly taken a decision to reschedule GJIIE 2016 to 7 – 9 October 2016 at the Chennai Trade Centre,” according to Syed Thamim, portfolio director, of trade fair organiser UBM India Pvt Ltd.

“We understand that this date change may cause inconvenience to some of our exhibitors and visitors. However, we assure you that the GJIIE team is enthusiastically encouraged with the preparations and progress of this year’s event.”

K. Krishnamurthy, president of the Coimbatore Jewellers Association, said, “We welcome the postponement decision of GJIIE from 18 – 20 March to 7 – 9 October due to the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections. On behalf of the industry, I wish them a successful October show.”
Recognised as South India’s largest gemstone and jewellery trade show, GJIIE draws buyers from Mumbai, Delhi and India’s second- and third-tier cities. It also attracts buyers from Sri Lanka, Andaman, Singapore, Malaysia, Qatar and Dubai – proof of the trade show’s expanding international reach.
